For an exercise we are doing in a group on my college campus. I am the concept group lead, and I teach concept art. Right now we are working on a 4 Stage process for Production Art.
Here is the Brief for my process: Airianne is an unconventional Oracle (prohecy) in training. Her journey to Arcani (Capitol) with her mentor to see the High Lord sends parelous visions of a anarchic war that only she forsaw. Now with the enemy practically on the doorstep Airianne must be the sight for her people if they have any hope of winning, even if it means entering the battle herself.
Next for the group is designing our lead character.
very nice indeed. i love the simplicity of the background elements, they read nicely (i struggle with spending too much time on unnecessary details, making my canvas 'too busy' at times)
When painting its not about drawing in every detail. You have to leave some imagination to the viewer. Plus you need to give depth and if you draw in every detail its not as believable and grounded. You have to imagine how you would see it realistically if its from the viewers perspective and in this piece the castle would not be detailed. Rule of thumb is the closer the object to the view the more details it should me.
